Make a school permission slip fillable
A permission slip comes home in a backpack, but you want to complete it on your phone. Making the school’s paper form fillable adds places to type and tick over the original page. It does not replace the school’s instructions, give consent automatically, or submit the form for you.
Check the school’s return instructions first
Ask whether the school already has a fillable PDF or a parent-portal version for this specific trip. If so, use that route instead. You may not need a converter or any payment. If the school sent a PDF, open it and try clicking a blank before converting it.
Confirm whether a completed PDF is accepted, where to send it, and which signature is required. A typed name is not automatically an accepted parent or guardian signature. Some schools use their own electronic consent process; others may require a signed paper copy.
For example, Golf School District 67’s field-trip instructions describe a parent-portal process with separate consent, signature and submission steps. That is one district’s process, not a rule for every school. Follow your school’s instructions.
Photograph the actual blank permission slip
Use the form the school supplied, keeping the trip details, consent wording, instructions and every required page. Do not substitute our sample or remove a section to make the page look simpler. Place the blank paper flat in even light, with all edges visible and no shadows over the answer areas.
Check that small print is readable before uploading the photo or scan. Avoid including unrelated documents or information the school did not ask for. For a few blanks, a free PDF reader’s text tools may be enough to place answers manually.
Preview the fields before paying
Fill Out Saver finds answer lines and checkboxes on your uploaded form. Check each page in the free preview, especially names, contact details and consent checkboxes. Type a test answer. Add, move or delete fields if a blank is missed or a field covers printed wording.
If the result suits your form, downloading the fillable PDF costs $3 once. No account is required. Conversion does not add a signing or school-submission service. Uploaded forms and hosted results are deleted after 24 hours, so keep your downloaded copy.
Try a fictional permission slip for free
Download free sample PDF. It has 4 blank text fields and 1 checkbox. No upload or payment is required. This is a fictional demonstration, not an official school form or a customer’s document. Do not send it to your school as permission for a real trip.
Open the sample in a compatible PDF reader, type a made-up name, and tick the checkbox. Save a copy under a new filename, close it, then reopen that saved copy. Check that both the name and tick remain. If your browser viewer cannot save answers, try free Acrobat Reader.
Complete, check and return your own form
Fill in the downloaded school form and follow the school’s signature requirements separately. Save and reopen the completed copy, checking every answer and required consent before sending it. Attach the saved file through the school’s accepted email or portal route; saving alone does not submit it. If a paper original is required, this conversion is not a substitute.
